Personal statement.
The personal statement is your chance to highlight relevant experiences and discuss your future research interests. If your background is not traditional (i.e. you do not have a BS in math or statistics), please explain why your experience meets the minimum requirements (see graduate handbook). Also if you have had a rough semester or two (due to e.g. COVID) that effected your performance, use the statement to explain what you have learned from your experience. Also please indicate what 1-4 faculty members (math.wsu.edu/faculty/welcome-gradfaculty.php) you believe you would like to consider working with on your MS or PhD.
International applicants must have a TOEFL score of 100, an IELTS score of 7, have a degree from a US institution awarded after August 2019, or claim citizenship from an exempt country. See gradschool.wsu.edu/international-requirements for more information.
Optional additional documents such as published papers may be uploaded if desired.
GRE scores are NOT required. Including GRE scores on cv/resume is optional.
A separate application for funding is NOT required. All applications to the Mathematics or Statistical Science PhD programs will be automatically considered for an assistantship position, regardless of citizenship status.
Unfortunately, the department does not have any application fee waivers at this time.
