Frank Morgan
Many insights in geometry, including Perelmans 2003 proof of the Poincare Conjecture, come from putting a positive weighting or density on volume and perimeter. The talk will include some open questions and progress by undergraduates. No prerequisites, students welcome. Further Information, including the unusual history of the Poincare Conjecture, is provided at http://geometricanalysis.org/Visitors/Morgan2012 Reception: Immediately following the colloquium, a reception will be held for Dr. Morgan in the Hacker Lounge of Neill Hall (room 216). Refreshments and snacks will be provided.
