1.Click once on a shape in the upper right hand corner of the graphing area. The shape will drop out and land on the x-axis.

2.You want to move and resize the shape so that it fits (as closely as possible) the area enclosed by the x-axis and y-axis. You move the shape by clicking and dragging inside the shape's boundaries. You resize the shape by clicking and dragging on a corner of the shape.

3.Once you have the shape sized and positioned correctly, then press the "Calculate Area" button.

Note that any non-overlapping shape that is fully in the graphing window will be added into the area calculation. You can click and drag extraneous shapes off the screen so that they are not part of the area calculation.
