Venn Diagrams

In a Venn Diagram, a group of things, or a category, S is represented by a circle.

Shading the interior of S means that category S contains nothing -- S is empty.

Putting an "x" in the interior of S means that S has something, at least one thing, in it -- S is not empty.

The area outside, or exterior, is all the non-members of S and is denoted by .
