In the grading system used at WSU, numerical equivalents
of letter grades are:
The following rules govern grades for graduate students:
- to earn any degree, a student must have a
cumulative
grade point average and
program grade point average;
- no course for which the student has received a grade below ``B-'' may be
dropped from a degree program; program courses for which a ``C-'' or
below has
been received must be repeated, but not on a Pass/Fail basis;
- a regular graduate student who has completed only one semester
or one summer session of graduate study with a grade point
average of 2.75 or above is eligible for continued enrollment;
upon completion of two semesters, one semester and one summer
session, or two summer sessions of graduate study and thereafter,
a
cumulative grade point average or above is required for
continued enrollment in the Graduate School; graduate students
admitted on a provisional status must maintain a cumulative
grade point average of
or above;
- courses outside mathematics and not in the student's minor department may
be taken on a Pass/Fail basis; this should be arranged at the time of
registration by submitting the appropriate forms (obtainable at the Graduate
School Office); the grade in any such course will be ``Pass''
or ``Fail''.
