A student who first enrolled in doctoral program in the Department
of Mathematics before Fall 2006 may satisfy the requirements
on courses and hours by
either satisfying the requirements in §8.2.1 or
the requirements below.
A student must successfully complete 72 hours of approved course work. Thirty three hours of course work must be chosen from the five groups below; this must ordinarily include at least two courses from each group.

| Group 4: | Math 443, 556, 563, 568, 569, 572, 573; Stat 519, 533, 544 |
At least one additional graded 400 or 500 level course is required to meet the Graduate School requirement of 34 semester hours of graded course work beyond the bachelor's degree. Finally, all doctoral students are required to take one hour of Math 500, Proseminar.
