Password - how to change your password
If you are a faculty member, or graduate student, and would like to
change your password you must log onto
a Linux machine in the research domain. Thetahat should work,
as will most office Linux machines.
- Type kinit
- Follow the instructions that are given to type the old password.
This grants you a ticket to use the kpasswd program.
- Type kpasswd
- Follow the instructions that are given to type in a new password and
confirm it.
Note that the change should take place immediately on any faculty or grad machine but it will take 24 hours to take effect on the Newton Lab machines.
It changes your Windows password as well.
If you prefer, you
may change your password by logging in to the the MATH Windows domain,
and then pressing +. This brings up a dialog
box that contains a button labelled "Reset Password". Click this,
and follow the instructions that are given. This method will change your password on both Linux and Windows systems.
