Welcome to the Flash Math site for the IDEA project. This constitutes a demonstration of the viability of a Flash component library for mathematics. In the past, creating mathematical animations and interactions using Flash was difficult, and required a level of programming sophistication on the part of designers that was unreasonable to ask of mathematicians. Using components from this library, mathematicians can create Flash demonstrations quickly and easily, without sacrificing functionality.

You can still get the oldFlash 5 Math Components but they are undocumented.
We have some demos that you can view.
- A short movie about Van der Pol's Equation was easy to assemble. It took about 1/2 hour.
- The Newtons Method demo was a little more tricky - it took an hour and a half to write.
- Here is a simple surface plot that was very easy (10 minutes) to write.
