Reading a File

What does it do? You can easily imagine that it is tedious to have to type in complicated equations and to arrange interesting displays of the graphics. You will frequently want to read in a data file to avoid all that typing. How do I use it? To read information from files you saved, do the following.

  1. Using the keyboard or the mouse, select the File menu;
  2. Select the Open item from the menu.
  3. A dialog box will appear, prompting you for the name of the file you want to read. DynaSys data files typically have a .dse extension. Select one using the mouse, or the tab and arrow keys.
  4. Press the OK button.

The display for the file you selected should appear on the screen. No trajectories should appear, since those are not saved.

What are the defaults? The default behavior for this dialog box is to display all of the files on the current directory.
