StarOffice 6.0 Installation Instructions for Faculty and Grad Students
- Log into your machine and enter the command: /usr/local/staroffice6.0/program/soffice
- The StarOffice 6.0 installation program begins. Click "Next."
- The Important Information box appears. Click "Next."
- The Software License Agreement appears. Click "Accept."
- The Enter User Data box appears. Enter "WSU Mathematics
Dept." in the Company box and click "Next."
- The Select Installation Type box appears. Make sure the
"Workstation Installation" box is chosen and click "Next."
- The Select Installation Directory box appears.
If you are a graduate
student the correct installation path to enter is: /usr1/your_login_name/staroffice6.0.
Click "next" and
a pop-up message appears saying, "Folder 'usr1/your_login_name/staroffice6.0'
" does not exist.
Create it now? Click "yes."
If you are a faculty
member the correct installation path to enter is: /usr/users/your_login_name.
Click
"next" and a pop-up message appears saying,
"Folder 'usr/users/your_login_name/staroffice6.0"
does not exist. Create it now? Click "yes."
- The Start Copying box appears. Press "install."
- The Java Setup box appears. Press "ok."
- The installation begins and a pop-up window appears saying, "Unfortunately
StarOffice could not find the files needed to install the Adabas database..."
Press "ok."
- The Installation Completed box appears. Press "complete."
Printer Configuration
- On the start menu go to: Favorites -> StarOffice 6.0 ->
Information and Setup -> StarOffice 6.0 Printer Administration
- A Printer Administration box appears. Press the "Properties"
button.
- Now, press the "Paper" tab and change the papersize to "US Letter."
- Next, press the "Device" tab and double-click on "Resolution."
Change the value to "1200 dpi."
- Click on the "Color" box and change the entry to "Grayscale,"
although this is an optional step.
Saving Files
StarOffice 6.0 will automatically save your files
to your /usr1/your_login_name directory or /usr/users/your_login_name directory.
How Will I Start StarOffice 6.0?
StarOffice 6.0 has automatically been added to your start
menu under the "Favorites" button.
