Graduate Student Opportunities

Conference organizers frequently have funding to support participation by graduate students. If you are interested in attending a conference, look carefully at the conference web page or contact the organizers to see if there are travel funds available for graduate students.

The WSU Graduate School has funding for graduate student travel: http://studentinvolvement.orgsync.com/org/gpsa

The American Mathematical Society (AMS) has grants for travel to AMS conferences: http://www.ams.org/programs/travel-grants/grad-students/emp-student-JMM

The Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) has grants for travel to SIAM conferences: http://www.siam.org/prizes/sponsored/travel.php

The mathematics department is an institutional member of the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI) in Berkeley, CA. Among the many events sponsored by MSRI are summer workshops for graduate students. The topics vary each summer. As an institutional member, our department may send two students each summer to workshops, with expenses paid by MSRI. Contact the Chair of the Graduate Studies Committee if you are interested. http://www.msri.org/web/msri/scientific/workshops/summer-graduate-school
