Textbook
Calculus for the Life Sciences by Greenwell, Ritchey, & Lial.
We will cover selected material from chapters 1 – 11.
Grading
• Problem sets (best 10 out of 12) (20%)
• Midterms (2): in class, October 3 and November 14 (25%
each)
• Final exam: December 10, 2007, 7-10am
(30%) * note time
Policies
• Please check course webpage periodically for changes, announcements,
and assignments.
• Please write your name, Math 140, and the problem set number on each
assignment, and
show all work.
• The final exam is comprehensive. Make-up exams will not be given. If
a test is missed for a
valid reason, the grading scheme will be adjusted to reflect the
situation.
• The use of calculators or other electronic devices capable of
graphing or symbolic
manipulation is not permitted during exams.
Announcements
• Math tutoring sessions are
scheduled Monday-Thursday afternoons, beginning Sept. 4, from 3-5 pm
and Sunday-Thursday
evenings from 7-9 pm in the Gannon-Goldsworthy study hall (first
floor). Tutoring is also available in the SLIC Complex (Abelson
Hall 227) 11am-2pm Monday-Wednesday and 11am-12noon on
Thursday. There is no tutoring Nov. 11, 12, 19-23, or Dec.
3-7.
• Midterm #1 will be
on Wed. Oct. 3, in class. It
will cover material through p. 292 in Section 5.3.
