Dr. Nairanjana Dasgupta
President of the Caucus for Women in Statistics - 2021
The Caucus for Women in Statistics (CWS) is an international, professional statistical society formed in 1971, for the education, employment and advancement of women in statistics. It fosters opportunities for education, employment and advancement. Its mission is to advance the careers of women statisticians through advocacy, providing resources and learning opportunities, increasing their professional participation and visibility, and promoting and assessing research that impacts women statisticians.
“I feel blessed to be working in a field I love; I truly love statistics. Teaching at WSU has always been energizing for me because I thoroughly enjoy the beauty of statistics and mathematics, as well as working with students and faculty. I look forward to serving as the 2021 president of the Caucus for Women in Statistics, and anticipate a great year."
Mathematics and Statistics Department Chair, Dr. Charles Moore, says Nairanjana is impressive. "Dr. Dasgupta will be a strong advocate for the Caucus of Women in Statistics. She has been fearless in taking on new roles without hesitation. She helped establish the WSU Consortium for Interdisciplinary Statistical Education and Research (CISER), and recently took the helm as director of the WSU Data Analytics program. In her new role as president of the Caucus for Women in Statistics she will be an effectve and strong leader."
Dr. Dasgupta is an Elected-Fellow of the American Statistical Association (ASA), and a Boeing Science/Math Education Distinguished Professor in Mathematics and Statistics.
