WSU alumna and former instructor Jenny Hughes, associate professor of mathematics at Columbia Basin College, spoke about her education and career path with graduate students and instructors. She graduated from WSU in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics and actuarial science, and completed her master's in statistics in 2007. She then taught a variety of math and stat courses at WSU while running the Math Learning Lab for Spokane Falls Community College located in Pullman's Gladish Building. Three years later she did graduate work in statistics at Iowa State University before accepting a tenure track position at Columbia Basin College in 2013. In March of 2015 she earned tenure and rank of associate professor. She spoke about her present teaching responsibilities, department and college involvement, community involvement, and the difference between teaching at a university and a two year college.
