Mathematics Seminar: When linear approximations work

4:10pm Neill Hall 5W

Kevin R. Vixie

This talk will be a informal, relaxed look at the inverse and implicit function theorems. As the title of the talk implies, these two theorems really just leverage the existence of good linear approximations. We push this as far as we can take it and then look at what intricacies pop up in the nonlinear case.
