Mathematics Colloquium: Combinatorial Matrix Theory – An Overview

2008-09-04

4:10 pm Neill Hall 5W

Judith McDonald

Abstract: Combinatorial matrix theory is the study of properties of matrix that depend on its underlying combinatorial structure. We will look at a variety of topics from the highly specialized spectra of irreducible nonnegative matrices (the Perron-Frobenius theorem and generalizations) to zero-nonzero patterns that can realize any spectrum.
