Algebra Seminar: The Perron-Frobenius Theorem

Abstract: In this talk, we will examine a proof of Perron's Theorem for positive matrices. We intend to compare this result to that of the classical Perron-Frobenius Theorem for irreducible, nonnegative matrices, and prove enough extra, helpful facts to extend the results for the positive case to the more general case. In essence, this talk is intended to provide a collection of interesting results from nonnegative matrix theory that specialists may enjoy, and novices (like myself) may find rewarding. Very little will be assumed by way background.
