Applied Math Seminar: Dynamics of Single-Occupancy Binding in a Bounded Domain

3:10 PM, Webster B8

Mark Schumaker

Abstract: The Interval Model of single-occupancy binding is inspired by the problem of substrate binding in microdomains of the thylakoid membrane of higher plants. This talk describes the Interval Model and its fast diffusion limit which leads to a system of two coupled, nonlinear, ordinary differential equations. These are analyzed (i) without substrate conversion into product and (ii) with substrate conversion into product.
